Dr. Jinnan Liu, NCTM (National Certified Teacher of Music), is a pianist, educator, and researcher. A native of China, she holds a Ph.D. in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from Louisiana State University. Her research interests include peer tutoring learning, students’ learning effectiveness and attitudes, and the promotion of diverse music through teaching and digital media. She also holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from Baylor University and a dual degree Bachelor’s from Nazareth University and Shandong Normal University. 

 

She is currently Director of Piano at Community School of the Arts (Fort Smith, AR) and Adjunct Faculty at Institute for the Creative Arts High School (Fort Smith, AR). She served as the editorial assistant for Piano Magazine since 2025 and as Graduate Teacher of Record at LSU from 2022 to 2026, where she was primarily responsible for teaching group piano classes and secondary applied piano. 

 

Dr. Jinnan Liu is an active scholar, member, and presenter. She has presented locally, nationally, and internationally, including at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Conferences, National Conferences on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP), and the International Society for Music Education (ISME) Conference. She has published in the International Journal of Music Education, MTNA e-Journal, and NCKP Conference Proceedings. She is also a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society.

 

She is committed to creating a harmonious and perfect teaching environment. Her current research interests are learning effectiveness, student motivation, and music accessibility. She has taught students from around the world, and her students have received awards in both local and national piano competitions.
